Why recycle?

W.A.L.T...... to identify reasons why we recycle.
In the lesson we did we were told to make a presentation as to why we recycle and the most difficult part was probably hyperlinking and making sure every link worked.

Quadrilaterals what are they?

W.A.L.T..... Identify what quadrilaterals are

Plastic bottles

Ever wonder what happens to plastic bottles when they’re recycled?

People are being more creative as to how they recycle bottles. Such as factory workers in China who now make the best clothing that is made with bottles which is the fabric polyester, here is the process.

It starts off when the bottles are drained because we may leave extra liquid inside which can affect the quality of the plastic. After that it then gets shredded and wrapped in cellophane so that it can get shipped to China.

When the shredded bottles have arrived, they’re then separated into colour groups. Clear or white bottles are very important in this case as they make white clothing or clothing that can be dyed. From then on stickers are separated and put into to a bathe, workers have to be really careful as corrosive caustic soda affects the skin but helps when removing labels.

The shredded bottles are then put into a barrel as it rotates for about 10 hours so that the plastic dries out. Workers have to catch the the shredded bottles as they fall out of the rotating barrel. Once that is done they then are put into a rotating screw that melts the plastic turning it into thread , then the plastic goes through a metal tube as it is then caught by the workers as it comes out.

These threads are then put into a lone which catches thousands of threads which tears them apart so it can stretch meanwhile, another lone gently merges them together by making tiny loops which makes it all into one piece of fabric. It holds it all together as bonded fibre strengthens all the material so that it can be made into all sorts of things. You probably think this is where it ends but no it doesn’t, This piece of fabric then goes through another machine which tear all those tiny loops made which makes the fabric more comfortable when worn.
Once this fabric is made it is then sent off to designers who design clothes for us to wear these clothes then get put up for sale for us to buy. So it’s pretty cool how people come up with so many different ways to recycle bottles now they can turn it into polyester and make all sort of things such as clothing and maybe even furniture. You never know how many more things can get recycled and turned into new things for us to use.
