My subject was dance I do dance and i wished to know how it started and so I chose the subject so I could look further into it. I think I've learned quite a lot about dance and how it's started. Maybe next time I could think of more ways to research my answer and think of better in depth questions.

Quadrilaterals what are they?

W.A.L.T..... Identify what quadrilaterals are

Plastic bottles

Ever wonder what happens to plastic bottles when they’re recycled?

People are being more creative as to how they recycle bottles. Such as factory workers in China who now make the best clothing that is made with bottles which is the fabric polyester, here is the process.

It starts off when the bottles are drained because we may leave extra liquid inside which can affect the quality of the plastic. After that it then gets shredded and wrapped in cellophane so that it can get shipped to China.

When the shredded bottles have arrived, they’re then separated into colour groups. Clear or white bottles are very important in this case as they make white clothing or clothing that can be dyed. From then on stickers are separated and put into to a bathe, workers have to be really careful as corrosive caustic soda affects the skin but helps when removing labels.

The shredded bottles are then put into a barrel as it rotates for about 10 hours so that the plastic dries out. Workers have to catch the the shredded bottles as they fall out of the rotating barrel. Once that is done they then are put into a rotating screw that melts the plastic turning it into thread , then the plastic goes through a metal tube as it is then caught by the workers as it comes out.

These threads are then put into a lone which catches thousands of threads which tears them apart so it can stretch meanwhile, another lone gently merges them together by making tiny loops which makes it all into one piece of fabric. It holds it all together as bonded fibre strengthens all the material so that it can be made into all sorts of things. You probably think this is where it ends but no it doesn’t, This piece of fabric then goes through another machine which tear all those tiny loops made which makes the fabric more comfortable when worn.
Once this fabric is made it is then sent off to designers who design clothes for us to wear these clothes then get put up for sale for us to buy. So it’s pretty cool how people come up with so many different ways to recycle bottles now they can turn it into polyester and make all sort of things such as clothing and maybe even furniture. You never know how many more things can get recycled and turned into new things for us to use.

A moment captured in one

W.A.L.T...... write descriptive paragraphs

Success Criteria:
-Generate an attribute chart to develop and sort ideas and details for descriptive writing
-Use interesting vocabulary to describe
-Generate paragraphs that have similar ideas-Create links between paragraphs

I think that I've really improved on descriptive writing in general because I've been able to include more descriptive vocabulary such as the ones below. I have done my planning using an attribute chart.

The ray of the sultry sun beams down on the overflowing crowd of people who stood in the streets of Rio. It’s humid heat starts to fill the air as a rush of excitement runs through the crowd. Children glance over at the starting line as they see cyclist start to organise their bikes for the race.  One by one people start to reach for their phones and cameras as they overhear the presenter begin the race.

As the crowd roared with encouragement, each cyclist’s accelerated their pedalling while the people start to take snapshots that captured every movement they made. Sweat dripped on every cyclist's face as they pushed themselves to their very best meanwhile pleasing their fans at the same time. In synchronisation they form one line as they swivel around each bend. A big “ohhh” comes from the crowd as some people try to get a better view.

Short Stories

W.A.LT..... choose tense that is appropriate for the writing purpose, use literary devices too enhance our writing and write in the perspective of your starter.
Starter: Write a horro story about a selfish stubborn police officer.
Lesson learned

It was an ordinary day at the California police office nothing new, just some random cases. “The names Josh I’m a professional full time police officer and well I hate my job and I don’t know why I studied it, it’s probably because my mum said follow your dreams son blah blah blah”. “ you know it’s those words your parents try to use when you don’t know what to do in life, well at least I still have a mum cause you know dad’s never stick around”. The day ended slow and steady, my days at the office are never exciting it’s like a typical day in the school holidays.

On my way home the sun beamed through the car windshield and I felt hot and stuffy like I was in the desert I hated this car but I ignore my anger and try to get home as fast as I could, so I could go on my go-kart, It was the only thing that was actually good in my life.

I pull up on the driveway and I see boxes and on them they had “shipping to L.A.” I stop the car, I jumped right out and I ran to mum “ mum! why are there shipping boxes outside are we moving?” I demanded an answer “yes son we are moving I’m sorry but there’s just another job in L.A. that gives more money than the one I have now”. I stood in horror “I hate this” I shouted and stormed out of the house I stood by my go-kart in the backyard. “Why does it have to be so hard” I brushed everything that happened away and waited for the two weeks where my life would be horrible I felt like a child in an orphanage.

We arrived in L.A. and pulled up at our new flat but I couldn’t be bothered helping my mum unpack, until a tall teal truck stopped in front of the driveway and well it looked like that generous guy had my go-kart.I went to him and snatched my go-kart out of his hands and took off. I drove for at least fifteen minutes until I see a race track so I carelessly take my go-kart and roughly raced it on the track for ten minutes until I realised that it had gotten darker I knew that I should be home but I didn’t want to leave so I raced for another five minutes. It was my last go round the track until I saw a white figure it looked like an old racer but I didn’t know who it was he shouted to me “ never race on this track this is my track no one goes on it and I’ve heard that you’re very selfish stubborn and a manipulative learn your manners boy before you be rude to others oh yeah by the way the names Casper you better get your act together or that go-kart will be swept out of your hands in just a blink of an eye”

Unknowingly it actually happened he haunted me for the next two weeks after that ghostly haunting night his life changed forever……..

Persuasive Writing

Music helps students learn

Is music the key to helping students learn but also have fun at school? or is it bad for students as they may not get work done?. All students are different, we all have our different ways that we can learn the best and music is one of them,

Just like me music is they key for me to work faster get motivated to learn and get my work to high standards but every student should get their work done anyway with or without music. The idea of music while working gets students excited for school knowing that they get to listen to their favourite but appropriate tunes during class time.

As a teacher you want to ensure that your students get their work done but to a very high standard, what I think is that there are students who get their work done faster without music but some don’t and need a bit of music to work faster and more efficient so you want to think about it both ways.

A class playlist is something that definitely is worth a think about as the class will be so much more motivated to learn, they will surely appreciate a playlist that has all of the class’ favourite tunes you might even like to have one each day of the week to play. Everyone may not have headphones to use so it’ll be hard for others to work who don’t want to listen to music that’s another problem that will occur when most students would like to listen to music beside maybe one or two.

Remember to think about students who are determined to learn but can’t learn because they have a specific way of learning which can be music in some cases, it’s really nice to help other students so that they are comfortable to learn in the classroom and it’ll definitely improve the thinking and motivation of learning in students in our class and maybe all over New Zealand.
